History of Byblos

Byblos or (in Arabic) Jubayl City in North of Lebanon, is one of the most ancient cities in the world. It is believed to have been occupied first between 8800 and 7000 B.C.

The city was the first city built by Phoenicians and began as a small fishing village. The cedars of Lebanon were highly prized by other countries for use in construction and Byblos became the single most important shipping port for timber to Egypt and elsewhere.  Through trade with Egypt, Byblos grew incredibly wealthy.

 

From early 1500’s until 1918, Byblos was part of the Ottoman Empire. From 1920 until 1943 Byblos was under French Mandate. Finally in 1943, Lebanon and Byblos achieved independence.

Tourism is now one of the major industries for this ancient port, and Byblos is re-emerging as a premier Mediterranean destination.

My Hotel Stay

I stayed in one of the best rated hotels in Jubayl city called Byblos Sur Mer. Its a 5 star hotel located in front of the main port with a beautiful sea view.

Byblos or (Jubayl) is a town of many contrasts where the old and historic meets the contemporary and hype.

My experience at this hotel turned my stay into a tranquil & unique stay.

My Summer Looks

From colorful breezy dresses to off shoulder tops, all you need this summer is to look & feel cool. For my short trip to Lebanon, I chose some super bright colors, cotton dresses & some ruffles which are really in this season. I also tried to keep it simple with accessories & makeup especially with the hot temperatures during summer season.

     تاريخ مدينة جبيل

بيبلوس أو (باللغة العربية) مدينة جبيل في شمال لبنان، هي واحدة من أقدم المدن في العالم. ويعتقد أنه قد احتل أولا ما بين 8800   700 قب ل الميلاد.

كانت أول مدينة بناها الفينيقيون و بدأت كقرية صيد صغيرة, و كان الأرز في لبنان ذات قيمة كبيرة من قبل دول أخري لإستخدامه في البناء. فبذلك أصبحت جبيل أهم ميناء لشحن الأحشاب مجانا الى مصر و أماكن أخري.

من خلال التجارة مع مصر, أصبحت مدينة جبيل غنية بشكل لا يصدق و اكنسبت الكثير من الثقافات و العادات المصرية (الفراعنة).

من أوائل العام 1500 حتى 1918 , كانت جبيل جزء من الإمبراطورية العثمانية. و من عام 1920 حتى 1943 كانت تحت الإنتداب الفرنسي. و أخيرا في عام 1943 حققا لبنان و جبيل الإستقلال.

تعد السياحة الان إحدى الصناعات الرئيسية لهذا الميناء القديم. و يعود بيبلوس أو جبيل الى الظهور كوجهة رئيسية في منطقة البحر المتوسط.

إقامتي في جبيل 

كانت إقامتي في مدينة جبيل في فندق يسمي Byblos Sur Mer وهو من أفضل الفنادق في المنطقة حائز علي 5 نجوم.

و يقع الفندق قبالة الميناء الرئيسي مع إطلالة جميلة على البحر.

جبيل مدينة تحفل بالعديد من المتناقضات التي تجمع بين القديم و التاريخي بحيث يختلط التاريخ المعاصر و القديم.

 إطلالاتي الصيفية

من فساتين الصيف الملونة الي البلايز ذات الأكمام Off Shoulders , كل ما تحتاجينه هذا الصيف هو الشعور و الظهور بشكل بارد و لطيف. 

كانت اختياراتي هذا الصيف هي الألوان الزاهية و البراقة ،الفساتين القطنية الخفيفة و الكشكشة التي هي من أحدث الصيحات لهذا الموسم. 

حاولت ابقاء الاكسسوار و المكياج بسيطا خاصة مع درجات الحرارة الساخنة خلال موسم الصيف .
